Child Dental Benefits Schedule

What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

Thorough examinations, dental x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, dental fillings, root canals and extractions are the services guaranteed by CDBS. However, the CDBS option does not cover orthodontic and cosmetic treatments, and treatments performed in a hospital.
Each child is capped with $1,000 for two years. And if the benefits are not used within the two-year period, it cannot be carried over to the next period.

How does How Does The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) Work?

Dentist Bicton accepts CDBS payments for the services it covers. A $1,000 maximum allowance will be set for the qualified child, and this can be used in a span of two years as a full one-time payment or spread as partial payments.

At the end of the two-year period, any remaining funds will expire and won’t be available for use. Additionally, you cannot use health insurance payments in conjunction with CDBS for the same treatment.

1.) Make an appointment with Gateways Dental Centre

Please inform us if you plan to use CDBS when scheduling an appointment. Knowing how close you are to the limit is beneficial as your benefit amount depends on it. At Dentist Bicton, our dentists will thoroughly evaluate your child’s eligibility for CDBS during the appointment.

2.) Talk to the dentist about the treatment that your child needs

Our Bicton Dentists can help you know what services your child needs, how much it will cost, and whether CDBS payment option can cover it or not. A consent form will be provided once you agree for the treatments to be performed and their costs.

3.) Start your treatment

You will receive a bill upon completion of your treatment.

4.) Submit the claim

You can claim your Medicare benefits under CDBS via Express Plus Medicare app, your Medicare online account through myGov, or through mailing or dropping off a Medicare Claim form at your local service centre. After you’ve processed your claim, benefits will be credited to your bank account.
